PedalPalooza Starts on June 12th

Posted by anomalily Sun, 01 Jun 2008 01:22:00 GMT

And to celebrate bike fun and the end of 80-hour work weeks, I'm taking all of Pedalpalooza off at work, the IPRC, the library, and other volunteer obligations. So I will have no priority but bike fun.

You can find the official calendar here. You will want to come to the World Naked Bike Ride on June 14th for sure. You also want to come to the Multnomah County Bike Fair, and you'll want to volunteer. Contact me for more details.

I'm hosting:

Bowie Vs. Prince
June 20th, 9:30 PM from Col Summers Park (SE 20th and Belmont)

Bicycle dance party on wheels. Loud stereo system and 80's dance music. Come dressed as your favorite 80's Pop star and we'll cruise and dance at locations all over the East side. Slow pace with frequent dancin' stops. Bring lights. This ride is not a loop. This ride will converge with the solstice ride.

Parks to Parks Night Ride
June 16th, 8PM from Mill's End Park, SW Naito Pkwy and Taylor St

Mellow ride from park to park all night long. Discover unheard of parks with plenty of play time at each.
This ride is not a loop, and it will go late. BYOB, bike lights, hula hoops, and park gear.

Escape from NE
June 17th, 630PM from NE 28th Ave & NE Brazee Ct (one block N of Brazee St)

Using directions generated at random during the ride, try to escape from set boundaries in NE Portland. Will we cross Alberta, Burnside, Williams, or 57th first? Or will we get stuck in an infinite vortex of North-eastitude? Will hipsters steal our socks? First drinking establishment across the line wins!

Vegan Baked Goods Ride
June 24th, 1:45PM from Papa G's on SE 23rd Ave and Division St

Join us for some or all of this ride around town.

A ride hitting various cafes and bakeries where delicious vegan goods are to be had (cupcakes, muffins, cookies, cinnamon rolls, cake!). Starts at Papa G's, SE 23rd and Division, heads over to the bike-thru window at Black Sheep via the Cellar Door, runs downtown and to the Pearl eventually ending at Sweetpea Baking at the vegan mini-mall at SE 12th and Stark with an optional "after-party" at Laughing Planet on Belmont (think vegan chocolate cookies!).
