Recently I completed my first 24 hour comic day. 24 Hour Comic Day has one goal: create a 24-page comic in 24 continuous hours. Hilarity, tiredness, and creativity ensues. I lived blogged throughout the event.
The resulting comic is called R.I.P. R.E.M.: a circular exploration of sleep deprivation, romance, booze, and karaoke. Published April 2009 (24 pgs half-sized, stapled)
I have made my perzine Nebulous for nearly eight years. There are 2 issues of the zine that are still in print.
Nebulous #8 Published August 2008 (40 pgs half-sized, gocco-printed color cover, stapled) This zine is about the history of bike fun in Portland. It includes interviews with original and current members of Shift, bicycle pornographer Rev Phil, two love stories to bicycles, and the bicycle commuter bill of rights.
Nebulous #3 Reissue: Not Otherwise Specified Originally published 2004, reprinted August 2008 (80 pgs quarter-sized, stapled)
This zine is about living through diagnosis of mental illness. Discusses schizoaffective disorder and hopefully breaks down some misconceptions around diagnoses. A lot of teenager-ness but possibly worthwhile if you're intrigued by the subject.
I've contributed to about a gazillion compilation zines over the years under enough different aliases that even I don't recollect them all.
I founded the now-defunct Queen City Zine Library in Cincinnati, OH. Now I'm an open hours staff at the Independent Publish Resource Center and do a weekly zine workshop with homeless/transitional youth. I'm also involved with the project to create a union catalog for zine libraries.
